EndSARS: Pyrates Confraternity Reaches Out To FG

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), Pyrates Confraternity has appealed to the Federal Government to pay compensation to victims of police brutality during the #EndSARS protests across the country.

The appeal which is contained in a statement signed by Mr Abiola Owoaje, NAS Capoon, in Abuja, on Tuesday, also called for justice for those killed during the protests.

The association also appealed to police authorities to give stoppage order to police officers on the street shooting at innocent protesters expressing their human rights.

Akeredolu Meets Buhari, Demands Deputy Governor’s Resignation

The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, was at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Akeredolu, who secured his second term in office by winning last Saturday’s governorship election, presented his Certificate of Return to Buhari.

Speaking with State House correspondent afterwards, he called on his current deputy, Agboola Ajayi, to resign if he still has any honour in him.

Ajayi had dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) first to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Britain’s unemployment rate has jumped to 4.5 percent as the coronavirus pandemic continues to destroy jobs, official data showed on Tuesday.

The reading for the June-August period compared with an unemployment rate of 4.1 percent for May to July, the Office for National Statistic said in a statement.

Early estimates for September meanwhile “suggest that there is little change in the number of payroll employees in the UK; up 20,000 compared with August”, the ONS said.

The Presidency has said the Presidential Panel on the Reform of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has approved the five-point demand from Nigerians, who have been protesting across the country since last week.

This was contained in a statement on Tuesday and signed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser of Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

According to him, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, convened a meeting with stakeholders, where he agreed to meet demands, which include halting use of force against protesters and unconditional release of arrested citizens.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, reads a letter containing the names at plenary on Tuesday.

One of the notable and front line senators that fought former president, Olusegun Obasanjo’s third term agenda, senator Yushua Anka is dead.

According to a press statement by one of the senator’s relations, Alhaji Ibrahim Anka, the senator died in Abuja after a protracted ailment.

Senator Anka was an inlaw to former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima who also took over senator Yushua Anka’s seat in the senate and represented Zamfara West senatorial zone between 2007- 2019.
