UN Chief Guterres, UK MPs, Support India Farmers’ Protest

The United Nation chief, Antonio Guterres and a group of 36 cross-party UK parliamentarians have come out in support of the agitating Indian farmers, saying people have a right to demonstrate peacefully and authorities should let them do so.

These reactions followed after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reiterated his support for the protesting farmers despite India’s strong reaction to his earlier remarks that Canada will always be there to defend the rights of peaceful protests.

Lagos-Ibadan Train Ticket Pegged At ₦3,000 To ₦6,000 – FG

The Nigerian Government on Friday unveiled the price range for travellers on the Lagos-Ibadan rail line route.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, disclosed that rail passengers are to pay ₦3,000 per economy seat, ₦5,000 for business class and ₦6,000 for first class seats.

Amaechi, who disclosed this at the inauguration of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria, CIOTA, in Abuja, said the rates are for Ibadan to Lagos.

He stated that the railway line will commence operation before the end of the year while its commissioning will be in January 2021.

Former French president Valery Giscard d’Estaing is dead.

He died at the age of 94 at his home in the central French department of Loir-et-Cher on Wednesday from complications linked to COVID-19.

Giscard d’Estaing was President of France at the age of 48 from 1974 until 1981.
