Why I Met With Top APC Leaders – Femi Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has explained why he had closed-door discussions with some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) including the caretaker committee chairman.

The Nation had exclusively reported how Fani-Kayode met with the Chairman of APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as well as Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello at Buni’s guest house in Abuja.

Fani-Kayode, in a statement on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, noted that the discussions were just based on the state of the nation, pressing national issues, party politics, and the way forward.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, justified the decision of his administration to construct a rail line linking Nigeria with the Niger Republic despite criticisms and disapproval that trailed the announcement of the plan.

The president said connecting Niger Republic through rail would, among other benefits, foster trans-Sahara trade and contribute to the expected gains in the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.

Buhari gave the justification while virtually presiding over the ground-breaking for the commencement of the rail line from the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Northern Governors’ Forum says the current system of open grazing, operated by herders in the country, is no longer sustainable.

The forum made this known in a statement issued by its chairman and governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong.

According to the communique, the northern governors will aggressively sensitise herdsmen on the need to adopt new methods of herding by ranching or other acceptable modern methods.
