Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, have stated that Nigeria has the highest number of poor people in the world a development which he believes is worrisome while calling on government at all levels to do better than they are currently doing to reverse the ugly trend.

The governor made the remark at the launch of the Social Protection Agency in the state capital on Tuesday.

He said his government established the agency to ensure that all social protection programmes are delivered in an integrated, inclusive and sustainable manner.

Dennis Amachree who is a former assistant director of the Department of State Services (DSS), on Monday, explained what he believes was why security agents who were ordered to rescue victims of Kagara abduction didn’t engage the bandits in a gun battle, according to him, they did so to avoid collateral damage.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says indigenes of his state were fighting against terrorists, killer herdsmen as well as criminality and not against any Fulani as some Nigerians believe.

Ortom made the clarification on Monday in Makurdi, while briefing journalists on the state of insecurity in Benue.

‘We are not against any tribe, especially the Fulani people, but rather against terrorists, killer herdsmen, bandits, kidnappers and all types of criminals within the state.’

Chairman of the South West Governors Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu has fired a warning to his Bauchi State counterpart asking him ‘not to set Nigeria on fire with his statements’.
