Why We Banned Open Grazing In Southern Nigeria – Akeredolu

The Chairman of the Southern Governor’s Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu, yesterday, explained why the Southern Governors Forum placed a ban on open grazing of cows in states across the region.

The governors had earlier in a communique jointly signed by all called for national dialogue while announcing the ban on open grazing.

The communique was signed at the end of their meeting in Asaba, the Delta State Capital, on Tuesday.

Akeredolu who presided over the Asaba meeting during an interview on national television said the decision is not new.

The Southern Senators’ Forum has commended steps taken by state governors from the region to stem the rise in insecurity.

Recall that the Southern Governors’ Forum on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to urgently convoke a national dialogue to address the wide spread agitations in the nation.

Governors of the southern states on Tuesday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to address Nigerians and convoke a national dialogue.
The governors expressed worries over the escalating insecurity in the land, noting that addressing Nigerians by the president would go a long in dousing tension and restoring confidence.
