The Chairman of the Southern Governor’s Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu, yesterday, explained why the Southern Governors Forum placed a ban on open grazing of cows in states across the region.

The governors had earlier in a communique jointly signed by all called for national dialogue while announcing the ban on open grazing.

The communique was signed at the end of their meeting in Asaba, the Delta State Capital, on Tuesday.

Akeredolu who presided over the Asaba meeting during an interview on national television said the decision is not new.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged that bandits were behind the security breach at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

PDP added that the alleged security breach was an indication that President Muhammadu Buhari lacked the capacity to secure Nigeria.

The President’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, had confirmed via his Twitter handle that some unknown gunmen attempted to break into the office of Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari.

The Southern Senators’ Forum has commended steps taken by state governors from the region to stem the rise in insecurity.

Recall that the Southern Governors’ Forum on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to urgently convoke a national dialogue to address the wide spread agitations in the nation.

The 15 members in attendance also called for restructuring of the country leading to the evolution of state police.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said this on Tuesday in Lagos at a meeting with Online Publishers.

Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT), a new terminal at the Onne Port in Rivers State, has commenced operations as it has handled two vessels since last week with the first ship delivering 1,297 containers.

Chad’s new leader, General Mahamat Idriss Deby, yesterday made his first visit to Niger, a fellow West African country fighting jihadist insurgents, since coming to power at the head of a military junta after the shock death of his father last month.
