Disregard el-Rufai, 5-Day Strike Stands As Planned – NLC

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Kaduna State Council, has called on all workers in the state to disregard the government’s circular against the five days warning strike slated to begin this Monday.

A statement by the State Secretary of the council, Comrade Christiana John Bawa, lamented that no any employer of the state government under the present leadership of Governor Nasir Elrufai has job security or is safe from disengagement.

2023: Bello Can’t Rule Even A Pig Farm – Deji Adeyanju

Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based right activist has mocked Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State over his remark of running for the presidency.

Adeyanju, who is the co-convener of Concerned Nigerian Advocacy Group said Bello lacks the capacity to be president of a ‘pig farm,’ let alone, ruling Nigeria.

Bello had hinted on running for the 2023 presidency when he pledged not to disappoint Nigerians.

The National Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhassan Saleh, has stated that the Fulani ethnic group is more prepared for the possible disintegration of Nigeria than any other ethnic nationality.

Amid the insecurity and tension caused by clashes between farmers and herders in some parts of Nigeria, southern governors had recently banned open cattle grazing in the entire 17 southern states of the country.

Speaking to newsmen, Saleh asserted that Fulani herders are not the problem facing the country.

Sierra Leone Government Moves To Abolish Death Penalty

Sierra Leone’s government is making frantic efforts to abolish the death penalty in the West African state, deputy justice minister Umaru Napoleon Koroma revealed yesterday.

No execution has taken place in the country since 1998, and death penalties are often commuted.

Sierra Leone, which is still recovering after decades of civil war, has frequently come under fire from rights groups for keeping capital punishment on the books.

‘Once the legislation goes to parliament and gets approved, that ends the story of the death penalty,’ Koroma told reporters.
