How Buhari Destroyed Nigeria’s Democracy – HURIWA

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA has accused Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari of ‘systematically and methodically destroying’ constitutional democracy in Nigeria going by his actions and inactions.

HIRIWA made the accusations against the President on Saturday in a statement by its National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf.

The statement alleged that the Buhari-led administration was gradually “replacing democracy with dictatorship”.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday received ex-President Goodluck Jonathan over the political crisis in Mali.

Jonathan, who is Special Envoy and ECOWAS mediator to the West African country, briefed the President on the situation in Mali after meeting with the key political actors ahead of the meeting of ECOWAS leaders under the Chairmanship of President Nana Akufo-Addo of the Republic of Ghana.

The ex-President said the meeting of the regional leaders was necessary to urgently find an acceptable solution to the current impasse in the West African nation.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria yesterday dismissed the appeal on the certificate forgery case brought by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its chieftain, Mr. Williams Edobor, against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that thre apex court said the appellant (Edo APC) failed to prove that the certificate issued by the University of Ibadan, with which Obaseki contested the 2020 Edo governorship election was forged.
