The Kogi State government has threatened to take legal action against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Commissioner of Information and Communication in the state, Kingsley Fanwo, issued the threat on Thursday while briefing reporters at the Kogi Liaison Office in Abuja.

He accused the EFCC of a calculated attempt to malign the integrity of the state governor, Yahaya Bello, over an alleged ₦20 billion salary bailout funds said to be in fixed deposit at a commercial bank.

The Presidency on Wednesday went hard on the global human rights advocacy group, Amnesty International, accusing it of playing ‘domestic politics.’

While stating that the organisation has no legal rights to operate in Nigeria, the federal Government accused it of allegedly legitimising the cause of the proscribed group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

President Muhammadu Buhari has asserted that Nigerians might not feel the impact of most of his projects until he leaves office in 2023.

The president made this assertion after inaugurating the new board of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).

At the brief ceremony which was held at State House, Abuja, Buhari tasked the board to make more investments that support economic diversification, as global oil prices were projected to drop to around $40 per barrel by 2030.

The Presidency has alleged that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has amassed a substantial stockpile of weapons across the country to cause chaos.

The allegation was contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Wednesday.
