Senate Decries Paltry ₦2.1B Budget For Military Weapons

The Nigerian Senate, through its Committee on Defence, on Friday, decried the paltry ₦2.1 billion allocated to the Defence Industrial Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) for the production of necessary military weapons for the Nigeria Army in the 2022 budget currently before the National Assembly.

Specifically, the committee, chaired by Senator Aliyu Wamakko, was angered by the poor budgetary provisions for the corporation in the next year’s budget proposal.

The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammad Musa Bello, has expressed thanks to Almighty God and the security agencies in the FCT and across neighbouring states for their joint efforts towards the rescue of the 6 persons abducted from the University of Abuja staff quarters at Giri, Gwagwalada Area Council.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that armed men yet to be identified, invaded the staff quarters of the institution on Tuesday and took away victims.

The abducted, however, regained freedom on Friday following the alleged intervention of security forces.

Anambra State Government has raised the alarm over alleged plot to arrest its officials on trumped-up charges, as a plot to weaken the chances of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Saturday’s election.
