Anambra Poll: Supplementary Election To Take Place On Tuesday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Tuesday, November 9 as the new date for a supplementary election in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State to determine who becomes the Governor of Anambra State.

The returning officer for Saturday’s governorship election in the state, Professor Florence Obi, made this announcement in the early hours of Monday.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the decision to hold supplementary elections in Ihiala LGA follows the failure of INEC to conduct elections there on Saturday.

Osinbajo Jets Out To Accra For ECOWAS Extraordinary Summit

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is representing Nigeria at the ongoing third Extraordinary Summit of the Economic Community Of West African States, ECOWAS, in Accra, Ghana.

A statement on Sunday by his spokesman, Laolu Akande, said the meeting is aimed at accessing the political situation in the republics of Guinea and Mali following the previous resolutions.

Recall that the VP had on September 16, participated at the 2nd ECOWAS Extraordinary Summit on similar agenda in the same Accra, the capital of Ghana where he stated Nigeria’s position on the activities of the military in Mali.

Anambra: Soludo Sweeps Six LGAs Declared By INEC

Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra election has won six Local Government Areas, in the results declared by INEC.

He won Anaocha, Aguata, Njikoka, Awka South, Onitsha South and Enugu Anambra East.

Since there are 21 LGAs in Anambra, results from 15 LGAs are still being awaited.
