APC Will Retain Power Beyond 2023 Under Me — Al-Makura

Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has given reasons why he believes that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will retain power beyond 2023 under his leadership.

He spoke in Abuja on Thursday, at an APC Press Corps Second Annual Public Lecture Summit, boasting that not even the exit of President Muhammadu Buhari will threaten the chances of the ruling party continuing.

Lassa Fever: 434 Cases, 80 Deaths Recorded In 2021 – NCDC

The statistics by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have revealed that 434 cases of Lassa fever have been recorded in Nigeria in 2021.

According to NCDC’s recent Lassa Fever situation report which was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York, no fewer than 80 persons were confirmed to have died of the disease this year.

The states affected by the infections include Edo (192), Ondo (150), Taraba (21), Ebonyi (17), Bauchi (15), Benue (8), Plateau (8), Kaduna (7), Enugu (5), Nasarawa (3), Kogi (3), Cross River (1),  Imo (1), Anambra (1), Delta (1), and Abia (1).

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he would ensure that Nigeria keeps all the pledges made to the ECOWAS Parliament, and to the sub-regional body at large.

This assurance was contained in a statement signed by his spokesman, Femi Adesina on Tuesday.

Buhari gave the assurance at the State House in Abuja, while receiving a team from ECOWAS Parliament, led by the Speaker, Dr Sidie Mohammed Tunis.

He commended the parliament for planning to fill its positions subsequently through elections, which would be incorporated into general elections of member countries, noting that ‘it would be cost-effective.’
