President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday has written the Nigerian Senate seeking their approval for the virement of ₦276,757,232,395 billion to fund various expenditures in the 2021 budget.

The request was conveyed in a letter dated Dec. 16 and read at plenary by the Senate President Ahmad Lawan and it comes on the day the Senate passed a bill to amend the 2021 Appropriations Act.

The Minister for Labour and Employment (State), Festus Keyamo has claimed that the Federal Government has disbursed over ₦100 billion to unemployed youths and small businesses over the last 5 years.

Keyamo claimed that the money was disbursed to Nigerians in the last five years through various means by the federal government.

Popular human rights lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his stance on the amended version of the electoral Act insisting that he is a beneficiary of direct primary and shouldn’t go against it.

Reno Omokri, a popular Nigerian socio-political activist, has given reasons why he believes former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar should be Nigeria’s next president in 2023.

Omokri declared on Monday that only Atiku can unite both the Southern and Northern parts of Nigeria together at the moment.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Mahmood Yakubu has revealed that the commission will require about ₦305 billion to ensure smooth conduct of the 2023 general elections.

Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities said Saturday they will resume issuing passports in Kabul, giving hope to citizens who feel threatened living under the Islamists’ rule.

Thousands of Afghans have also applied for new travel documents to escape a growing economic and humanitarian crisis described by the UN as an “avalanche of hunger”.
