Anxiety As Somalis Smoke Ants To ‘Get High’

Police in Somalia has classified a particular kind of ant as a drug, after finding out that people were steaming the insects and inhaling their vapour to get high.

Odorous house ants, whose scientific name is tapinoma sessile, are known to contain formic acid.

There are accounts of birds appearing “drunk” after eating large quantities of these ants, and a security officer has told TV station Somali Cable that humans are deliberately using it to similar effect.

16 Die As Flash Floods Hit Indian Kashmir Pilgrimage Site

No fewer than sixteen people have been confirmed dead in Indian-administered Kashmir, with rescuers searching for dozens more missing, after flash floods swept away hundreds of tents near a popular Hindu pilgrimage site, officials disclosed on Sunday.

Around 10,000 people were camped near the remote Amarnath temple, nestled in a Himalayan mountain cave when a sudden cloudburst triggered a deluge.

Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled his official residence on Saturday shortly before protesters, angered by an unprecedented economic crisis, overran the compound and stormed his nearby office.

Thousands of people had surrounded the leader’s home to demand his resignation, blaming government mismanagement for a downturn that has subjected the island nation’s 22 million people to months of bitter hardship.

While reacting to the news of  the loss of some huge amount of money during the Kuje Prion siege, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has openly debunked some of the reports that fleeing inmates from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, during the attack, stole money (local and foreign currencies) which were belonging to their fellow inmates.

Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) has become the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari’s son-in-law after his wedding to Nana Hadiza who is Buhari’s third daughter who is shared with his first wife, Safinatu.

The wedding Nikai had taken place at the Presidential Villa Mosque on Friday, before President Buhari departed for Daura, his hometown.

The Federal Government of Nigeria in coalition with the Nigerian Correctional Service has on Friday openly declared 69 of the inmates who escaped from its Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre in Abuja on Tuesday night wanted and asked the general public to supply information about them if they had any in order to aid with their recapture.
