28 Fishermen Rescued From Sea Pirates In Crack Operation

Some of the operatives of the Akwa Ibom Police Command have rescued 28 fishermen who had been kidnapped by a five-man sea pirate gang in Akwakpa, Uruan Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi had made this disclosure on Friday while briefing some of the journalists in Uyo.

He explained that the fishers were rescued through intelligence.

A 25-year-old Black man who was shot and killed by police in Akron, Ohio on Friday, while fleeing a traffic stop had 46 gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office revealed Friday.

A summary of the autopsy findings on Jayland Walker was released by Summit County medical examiner Lisa Kohler, the Akron Beacon Journal newspaper reported.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the release of body camera footage of Walker’s June 27 shooting sparked several days of angry protests in Akron, a city of 190,000 people in northern Ohio.

As the conflict between Russia and the Ukrainian nation rages on, the acting head of the Kherson region military administration, Dmytro Butriy, has warned the Ukrainian citizens to make sure that they run away from the region, while reiterating that Russian soldiers are not human beings.

Butriy announced this while disclosing that 44 settlements in the area largely occupied by Russian troops have been liberated. He, however, did not give an actual timescale but some of the Ukrainian troops had began an offensive in Kherson in May, recovering a number of villages since then.

The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday sent a belated message to the family of Oluwole Isaac Adetiran who is the composer of NYSC’s national anthem, 69 days after his passing.

Venerable Adetiran who was an accomplished musicologist, had kicked the bucket on the 6th of May, 2022 at the age of 75.

He composed the NYSC anthem, “Youths Obey the Clarion Call,” in 1984 while serving as a Corps member at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
