Lucky United States Lottery Player Smashes Jackpot Worth $1.3bn

Those who claim that there are no lucks in lotteries would be shamed as some luck has shone on a United States lottery player who smashed a Mega Millions jackpot win which is estimated to be worth more than $1.3 billion, one of the highest prizes ever, a United States lottery official confirmed Saturday.

The official Mega Millions site had announced that a single ticket holder in the Midwestern state of Illinois — who has yet to be identified — had the six magic numbers and won a jackpot estimated at $1.337 billion.

2023 Census: Some Nigerians Are Refusing To Be Counted – NPC

Ahead of next year’s census, the National Population Commission (NPC) has revealed that some Nigerians are reluctant to be counted urging them to discard their fears. 

Africa Daily News, New York reports that on Friday in Ebonyi, the NPC listed this among the challenges the commission was facing.

Federal Commissioner, Darlington Okereke gave an update on the implementation of the trial population and housing census.

The official assured that the commission would get it right during the main census.

It has been reported that at least seven people have been killed in the United Arab Emirates after a barrage of unseasonable downpours had triggered flash flooding in eastern districts of the normally parched Gulf state, authorities said.

As a result of the rising spate of insecurity in the country, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has made the approval of the redeployment of some top military officers and also the  appointment of new ones as insecurity rages in Nigeria.

The appointments had been announced in a statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, on Thursday in Abuja.

Nwachukwu said the new postings and appointments were done in an effort to reposition the army for operational efficiency.
