Nigerian singer and social critic, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa who is also popularly known as Charly Boy or Area Fada has come out to lambast the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, over his recent cryptic tweet which had put out while mocking some of the supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Crime Gangs Fingered As Five Die In Ecuador Blast

No fewer than five people were confirmed dead and 16 others injured following an explosion on Sunday in the port city of Guayaquil in Ecuador, an attack the government blamed on organized crime, officials said.

The President of the country, Guillermo Lasso had declared a state of emergency in the country’s second-largest city of Guayaquil following the report, where eight houses and two cars were destroyed in the blast.

Lasso had also taken Twitter to warn that his year-old government would ‘not allow organized crime to try to control the country.’

No fewer than 41 people have been confirmed dead and 14 others injured following a fire that broke out at a church in the city of Giza, near Cairo, Egypt’s Coptic Church disclosed on Sunday, citing the health ministry.

The health ministry in Egypt had earlier disclosed that ‘several’ people were killed in the fire at the Abu Sifin Coptic church in the Imbaba neighbourhood yesterday and that ambulances transferred at least 55 injured people to local hospitals.

Cairo Coptic Church Fire Outbreak Leaves 41 Dead

A massive fire outbreak that had broken out on Sunday in a Coptic Christian church in Egypt’s capital Cairo  has left a total of 41 people dead as was reported by church officials said.

In a letter titled: Reviving the Economy: Our Response to Governors Prescriptions by its President, Ayuba Wabba, NLC faulted governors’ recent recommendations to revive the nation’s ailing economy.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has threatened to impose serious sanctions on a Chinese construction firm, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, over its alleged failure to meet up with the contract of providing 85 percent of rail project cost.

The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, made this known on Saturday in Lagos during the inspection of the Lekki Deep Seaport.

The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, popularly known as Miyetti Allah, has announced that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, will face justice at the ICC for ‘violating the rights of Fulani herders’ in his state.

The National Secretary-General of the Fulani socio-cultural group, Mr Saleh Alhassan, also said Miyetti Allah had approached the International Criminal Court of Justice, Hague, to file a suit against Ortom for seizing over 25,000 cows belonging to members of the group and detaining over 4,000 herders.

4 Killed As OPC, Fulani Cow Dealers Clash In Kwara

The police command in Kwara State has confirmed the killing of no fewer than four persons and dozen other who were injured at Kaara Market in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state following a clash between OPC members and Fulani cow dealers.

New Hazard Allowance Being Withheld By Finance Ministry -NARD

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has lampooned the Ministry of Finance for the non-payment of the increased hazard allowance which was approved by the Federal Government last year. 

The President of NARD, Dr Dare Ishaya, who spoke with our correspondent, said the money for the hazard allowance was budgeted, but the Federal Ministry of Finance had yet to release it.

No fewer than 11 people were yesterday killed during a mass shooting in Montenegro’s central city of Cetinje the country’s public broadcaster confirmed to newsmen.
