In a new confirmed security threat, the Lagos State Police Command has come out to announce that the state has been placed under a partial lockdown by some of the security agencies in the State after a fresh threat had been unvieled.

Abiodun Alabi who is the Lagos State Commissioner of Police had revealed that surveillance has been raised in due time due to the massive threat of attacks, he had also made the disclosure during the Lagos State Stakeholders’ Forum on Police Accountability (SFPA)’s quarterly meeting.

In lieu of their recently announced strike action, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has finally called off its nationwide strike action just a day after they had downed their tools and thrown the country into a blackout.

NiMet Predicts Flooding In 6 Nigerian States, Warns Residents

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), on Tuesday, predicted that no fewer than six states would experience flooding in a matter of few weeks’ time.

In the aftermath of this, the agency has gone on to warn that those residing close to flood-prone areas to evacuate before this most dangerous time.

In a statement on Tuesday, Director General of NiMet, Prof. Mansur Matazu mentioned the six states as; Borno, Kebbi, Sokoto, Bayelsa and Delta States.

NiMet Director General further said its soil moisture analysis and the weather patterns showed that some parts of these states are flood high-risk areas.

Spain Firefighters In Deadly Battle To Control Huge Valencia Wildfire

Spain has been having it hot as some 300 firefighters have spent a difficult night in the process of trying to battle a huge wildfire which had occurred in the southeastern part of Spain which had has burnt through nearly 10,000 hectares in an area notoriously difficult to access.

The fire had been reportedly started when lightning had hit the Vall de Ebo area in the province of Alicante late Saturday and has since spread quite rapidly around the surroundings while being fuelled by strong winds, forcing the evacuation of more than 1,000 people, Valencia’s regional government said.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is will today hold a strategic meeting with representatives of the Federal Government over its prolonged strike action.

Umahi Raises Alarm Over Arms Proliferation In Nigeria

The Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum and the Governor Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has expressed serious concerns over the proliferation of small arms in the country.

This assertion came as Umahi was setting up a 10-man committee to work in consonance with the National Taskforce in the state in order to set the stage for the enlistment of over 4,000 residents of the state, into the commission.
