Fire Destroys Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams’ Mthatha Home

The home of communications minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams in Marhambeni village home in Mthatha was engulfed by a fire on Sunday morning.

Firefighters and community members had to rush in to douse the flames. No one was injured according to villagers.

Ndabeni-Abrahams could not be reached for comment as she was believed to be on a flight.

A man who did not want to be named said two fire trucks were currently at the scene.

At a conference where hackers can try their hands at picking locks and discover cyber vulnerabilities in a makeshift hospital, they can also endeavor to break into the control units of cars and take over driving functions.

Those efforts at the DEF CON security convention in Las Vegas, US, at the weekend, were sponsored by carmakers and suppliers that have increasingly recognized the need to collaborate with so-called white-hat hackers, cyber experts who specialize in discovering vulnerabilities to help organizations.

FG Inaugurates Milk Collection Center In Kano

The Federal Government on Saturday inaugurated a mini milk collection center in Tassa Village in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano state.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, said that the center would alleviate the plight of milk sellers and improve their business.

Nanono said ‎that the government would establish additional centers in other states of the federation in order to further improve the economic wellbeing of the people.

“Additional collection centers would be established in Gujungu and Ringim is Jigawa so as to get fresh and hygienic milk,” he said.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has warned Boris Johnson and other MPs to avoid using inflammatory language – as the UK prepares for a general election.

Justin Welby said it was “extraordinarily dangerous for politicians to use careless comments” in a “polarised and volatile” society.

He told the Sunday Times that use of words like “traitor” and “fascist” had left MPs fearing for their lives.

The PM had a special responsibility to moderate his language, he added.

Nigeria’s New Rating By World Bank Commendable – Analyst

A Public Affairs Analyst, Mr Carl Umegboro has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the recent 15 places rise rating of Nigeria in the latest index from the World Bank.

Umegboro, a lawyer and Associate, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, who gave the commendation in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said Nigeria was now ranked 131 moving up 15 places from its last ranking by the World Bank.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Word Bank Doing-Business 2020 appraisal, looked at most improved places to do business and which economies improved the most.

The Borno Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on Saturday condemned the detention of a lawyer, Mr Sadiq Kachalla, by police in Maiduguri.

A mother and child had to be rescued from a trapped car by firefighters, after it became stuck in flood water at Garthmyl near Montgomery in Powys.

Essex Lorry: Driver Charged With Manslaughter Of 39 People

Maurice Robinson, 25, was arrested after the bodies of 39 People,31 men and eight women were found in Grays on Wednesday.

He is further charged with people trafficking, immigration and money laundering offences, Essex Police said.

Mr Robinson, of Laurel Drive, Craigavon, Northern Ireland, is due before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Three others, a man and a woman, both 38, from Warrington, Cheshire, and a 48-year-old man from Northern Ireland remain in police custody.

All three were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and conspiracy to traffic people.
