Works Begin On 3 Flyovers In Port Harcourt

Construction Works have commenced at the sites of the three flyovers flagged off by the Rivers State Government.

Technicians and engineers of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the contractor handling the bridges, were seen at the three locations engaging in preliminary works, yesterday.

All through the previous week, the contractor had been on site at the Rebisi flyover (former Garrison), Rumuogba flyover (former Artillery) and Okoro-Nu-Odo flyover, excavating and taking measurements.

Proposed Bank Strike: Stakeholders Call For Dialogue

 Some financial experts and stakeholders have appealed to bank unions’ to dialogue with their employers to forestall the proposed operation shut down of banks by Jan. 2.

The Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) and the National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (NUBIFI), on Nov. 17, issued a strike threat to bank employers.

The unions said that workers in the sector would embark on an indefinite strike over failure of their employers to review the Collective Bargaining Agreement in line with extant law.

Do We Need Unviable 32 States?

A report the other day that only four of the 36 states in the country are viable is disturbing and demands urgent action of the governments and people of Nigeria to cause a change in this negative situation. Undergoing ultrasound scans too often may lead to foetus deformity among pregnant mothers or cause a thermal effect on the patient’s body tissue, experts have warned.

Janet Akinmoladun, a consultant radiologist at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, spoke while training doctors and paramedics on carrying out emergency ultrasound procedures at the 661 Nigerian Airforce Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos state.

The training, which held at the Sam Ethnan Airforce Base, was organized by the GTAK Health Alliance for Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) alongside the military hospital and saw a team of experts teach and showcase medical technologies.

Buratai Calls For Synergy Between Security Agencies

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has called for synergy between the Armed Forces,  other security agencies and the media as a way of achieving success in operations being carried out by the force.
