Chief Edwin Clark, the leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), said the Southeast must produce the next president of Nigeria.

He said this when a presidential aspirant, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, visited him on Friday.

During the visit, Chief Clark reaffirmed his passionate “belief that the presidency of Nigeria in 2023 must go to the Southern part of Nigeria and indeed to South-East zone”.

Zamfara FRSC Officials Return ₦2.5m To Accident Victim

The Zamfara State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has revealed that its operatives have recovered ₦2.5 million from a spot where an auto accident occurred in Kwartarkashi – Gusau road in Zamfara State.

Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, the commandant of the Corps, Mr A. A Sparks said the operatives of the command demonstrated a high sense of patriotism by returning the money to the owner.

“They recovered two million and five hundred thousand Naira from an accident scene and returned the money to the owner without thinking of converting it to themselves,” he added.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Friday, declared its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as a prisoner of conscience.

IPOB said Kanu, who is in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, was arrested for committing no offence.

The Nigerian Senate, on Thursday, approved $5,803,364,553.50 and a grant component of $10 million under the 2018-2020 External Borrowing (Rolling) plan for the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The approval followed the consideration of a report by the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts.

Chairman of the Committee, Clifford Ordia, in his presentation, said the $2,300,000,000 would be sourced from the World Bank, $2,300,000,000 from the German Consortium, $90,000,000 from the Islamic Development, 786,382,967 from the China Exim Bank, $276,981,586.50 from the Bank of China, and $50,000,000 from the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

EFCC Uncovers Additional $72.8m Linked To Diezani

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has uncovered an additional $72, 870,000 million linked to the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The sum was said to have been discovered in an account domiciled in Fidelity Bank Plc.

Consequently, a former Managing Director of the bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, has been arrested.

Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday warned EU lawmakers that the bloc’s drive to deliver Covid-19 booster jabs could hamper vaccination in Africa, as he slammed travel bans over the Omicron variant.

Speaking in a speech at the European Parliament on Tuesday, Akufo-Addo said; ‘The unsavoury politics of vaccine nationalism we’re witnessing could… potentially derail global efforts made (to contain) the pandemic to date’.

China has reported its first case of the fast-spreading Omicron coronavirus variant, state media disclosed on Monday.

Authorities in the northern city of Tianjin confirmed the case in an individual who entered the country from an undisclosed overseas location, according to the Tianjin Daily newspaper.

UI Emerges Best Varsity In 2021 As NUC Releases Ranking

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has ranked the University of Ibadan (UI) first in its latest 2021 ranking which was released yesterday.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the ranking, which was carried out using twelve indicators, involved 113 universities across Nigeria.

The institutions were ranked based on the google scholar index, the total number of full-time students, students and staff ratio, efficiency, the number of international students, and contribution to the knowledge economy.

Other criteria include; percentage of Programmes with full-time accreditation, percentage of international staff, all citations per capita, amongst others.
