Russia Accuses Israel Mercenaries Of Fighting For Ukraine

A key spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry on Wednesday alleged that Israeli mercenaries were fighting alongside the far-right Azov Regiment in Ukraine, a statement which has now further fuelled tensions with Israel after Russia had last week suggested Adolf Hitler had ‘Jewish blood’.

‘Israeli mercenaries are practically shoulder to shoulder with Azov militants in Ukraine,’ Maria Zakharova told pro-Kremlin Sputnik radio in an interview which was monitored by Africa Daily News, New York.

Access To Safe Abortions Important To Save Lives – WHO Chief

The head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday stated that access to safe abortions saves lives, while reaction to a leaked draft ruling which revealed that the US Supreme Court was mulling ending nationwide legal abortions.

Speaking on Wednesday, WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that ‘restricting access to abortion does not reduce the number of procedures’, although he didn’t explicitly mention the US case.

‘It drives women and girls towards unsafe ones’ he said in a tweet which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York.

A Nigerian group in the diaspora, Chibuike Rotimi Amechi (CRA) Move Up Campaign USA/Canada, has called for legislation that will allow Nigerians living abroad to vote in the country’s elections.

The Director General of the group, Mr Joe Korka-Waadah, made the call on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, when the group paid the Rivers Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emeka Beke, a courtesy call.

Korka-Waadah said the group was very concerned and disappointed that Nigerians living abroad were currently denied the right to participate in voting for candidates of their choice during elections in the country.
