After the reports about their stand on the Zoning formula in their political party, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has minced no words as they blasted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while  describing them as scammers and a party filled with 419ers.

HURIWA had reportedly saw red after perusing the news that the former ruling party had thrown open its presidential ticket ahead of its primaries. The presidential primaries have already been slated for May 28-29, 2022.

HURIWA expressed its displeasure over the party’s decision in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko.

The United Nations Human Rights Council Humanitarian movement have demanded that their workers should be granted access to individuals who have been forcibly taken to Russia amid the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

It cited allegations that some have been forced across the border.

The Geneva-based council also open up during a special session on Ukraine to condemn atrocities documented by experts in Russian-occupied territories. A resolution from the council pointed to cases of torture, shootings, and sexual violence, among other crimes documented by a UN team on ground.

Fresh Gas Explosion In Old Havana Injures Three

A gas explosion in Havana injured three people yesterday exaclty in the same neighbourhood where a similar blast that left 44 dead and destroyed an iconic hotel was reported last week, authorities have confirmed.

The victims were a father and son and a neighbour, local official Yamila Velazquez told state television.

“The child’s father had flipped the switch and there was an explosion. A neighbour suffered injuries to her legs and arms,” Velazquez said, adding that the three victims were taken to a hospital by neighbours while the fire brigade cut off the neighbourhood’s gas supply.

A plane carrying 11 people crashed in a forest in central Cameroon on Wednesday, Africa Daily News, New York has gathered.

According to reports, a major storm hit Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, in the afternoon of Wednesday, causing the plane to lose signal after it took off from the city’s Nsimalen airport.

In a recent occurence, numerous Hoteliers in Calabar, Cross River State have decried the increasing cost of doing business due to the incessant power outage that has affected the State’s capital for 49 days.

In a series of interviews on Wednesday, the hoteliers said their operational costs had more than doubled since the outage.
