5 Dead, 2 Injured In Kaduna Bandits’ Attack – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said five persons died in recent bandits attack in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the attack has displaced residents from 17 villages now taking refuge at Birnin Yero LEA Primary School.

Mr. Ishaya Chinoko, Zonal Coordinator of NEMA made this known when he led a team on a rapid assessment of the displaced persons from the 17 villages.

Police Nab 5 Over Alleged Kidnapping And Robbery In Niger

The Police in Niger have arrested five suspects for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery in Rafi and Mariga local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Usman Adamu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Thursday.

Usman said on Oct. 18, one Alhaji  Ibrahim Garkuwa of Tashan Kare reported at Kagara Police Division that some hoodlums who were armed with machete, stick and dressed in female Hijab (Muslim females gown) and face mask, invaded his house at Tashan Kare.

Another 26 FRSC Officials Arrested For Extortion – ICPC

Another set of 26 officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been arrested for alleged extortion of motorists in different parts of the country.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Okoduwa said the culprits were nabbed in a joint operation codenamed “Operation Tranquility”, involving operatives of the ICPC, FRSC and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Facebook probe by U.S. Expands To 47 Attorneys General

An antitrust investigation into Facebook ramped up on Tuesday with the announcement that 47 state attorneys general from across the U.S. have joined the New York-led probe.

The New York Attorney-General, Letitia James, said in a statement in New York.

Those chief legal officers of states and territories “are all concerned that Facebook may have put consumer data at risk, reduced the quality of consumers’ choices, and increased the price of advertising,’’ James said.

She added that the inquiry aims to “determine whether Facebook’s actions stifled competition and put users at risk.”

The Department of State Security (DSS) has arrested six members of staff of the University of Ibadan over alleged examination malpractices.

NSCDC Officer Shot In Kidnap Attack In Abuja Dies

An officer of the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who was shot during kidnappers’ onslaught on Pegi community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT, has died.

The victim, Samuel Aku Attah, a Chief Superintendent Officer in the NSCDC, died at the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.

The 44-year-old is survived by two children and aged parents. He was shot when gunmen, dressed in military camouflage, kidnapped nine persons during a raid on the community on October 8.
