OVER the course of penultimate weekend, news came of the massacre of no fewer than 13 students of the Kogi State University, KSU, Ayingba, Kogi State, by alleged cultists. According to the reports, the killings were reprisals staged by an unnamed cult whose leader was murdered by a rival group in the KSU. Nine students, including a 200-level female student and her boyfriend, were reportedly killed on the KSU campus and at different locations within the Ayingba town. Former Super Eagles Player Found Guilty Of Match-Fixing

A former Nigeria international Dickson Etuhu has been found guilty for attempted match-fixing by a Swedish appeals court.
The Court of Appeals in Stockholm in a release on Wednesday said that Etuhu and an unnamed former player tried to influence AIK keeper Kyriakos “Kenny” Stamatopoulos to fix a match in Sweden’s top division in 2017.

“The content of what the men submitted to the player (Stamatopoulos) was so clear that it should be considered a criminal offer of bribe,” the court said.

Boy, 12, Allegedly Raped By Three Psychiatric Patients

The incident allegedly took place on Tuesday at Durban’s RK Khan hospital where it is alleged psychiatric and non-psychiatric patients are currently in mixed wards.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal has said it will seek answers from the province’s Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu after being reliably informed that a 12-year-old boy has been allegedly raped by three psychiatric patients at Durban’s RK Khan Hospital.

The DA’s member of the provincial legislature, Dr Rishigen Viranna said the information of the alleged rape was made available to the party by sources within the hospital.

Facilities management company Bosasa laid criminal charges on Wednesday against, among others, their former chief operating officer, Angelo Agrizzi, and former chief financial officer, Andries van Tonder, both of whom testified against the company earlier this year at the state capture commission.

SA: Two Women Killed In Bronkhorstspruit Bus Crash

Two women have been killed in a bus crash on Moloto Road in Bronkhorstspruit, Tshwane, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“Circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known, but it occurred this morning between 05:00 and 06:00 while it was raining. The accident happened around a curve,” Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson Isaac Mahamba told News24 on Wednesday afternoon.

SA: Doctor Shoots Wife In The Head, In Front Of Kids

A doctor is in hospital after being shot in the head, allegedly by her estranged husband, who is also a doctor, in Summerstand, Port Elizabeth, over the weekend, police said on Monday.

Police spokesperson Capt Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the woman, 36, and her sister went to the house on Saturday morning to fetch some of her belongings, when they were attacked by her husband.

“A shot was fired, injuring the woman in her head,” Van Rensburg said. The woman survived the shooting and was taken to hospital.

Kano Boy Kidnapped In 2014 Found And Rescued In Anambra

The police in Kano State announced on Wednesday the rescue of a boy who had been kidnapped in the state and trafficked and sold in Anamabra State.

A statement signed by the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Abdullahi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, gave the name of the boy as Muhammed Ya’u.

The statement said that the 11-year-old victim, whose name was initially announced as Muhammad Yau, was kidnapped in 2014 at PRP Quarters in the metropolitan area of the state.

The Edo Police Command has denied reports of a robbery attempts at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Benin.

OPWS Allegedly Destroys Gana’s Small London Hotel

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) on Tuesday allegedly destroyed a hotel belonging to wanted militia leader Terwase Akwaza, alias ‘Gana’, in Gbishe, Katsina-Ala Local Government area of Benue State.
