Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has commended security agencies particularly the Department of State Services for the rescue of five kidnapped aid workers by the Boko Haram terrorist group including Jennifer Ukambomg Samuel, a nurse from Plateau State.

Governor Lalong says he is excited at this development and thanks President Muhammadu Buhari for his support in ensuring that all those in captivity are set free while the terror group and other criminals are fished out and dealt with.

Rapists In Adamawa To Get Special Treatment

The Adamawa State Government is to designate a court for the specific purpose of adjudicating over rape cases.

The government made the pronouncement Thursday against prevailing high number of rape incidents, most of them poorly prosecuted in the general courts.

The state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr Afraimu Jingi, who spoke on the matter to newsmen in his office at the state Secretariat in Yola, said the court to be designated would have personnel whose dedication would be to handle rape cases.\

A 60-year-old Cherubim and Seraphim pastor based in Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, identified as Michael Oluronbi was on Tuesday, January 14th, convicted by a UK court for 24 counts of child sexual abuse and rape.

He was found guilty of 15 counts of rape, seven counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault

Amotekun: We Won’t Rely On Guns

As the newly launched security outfit tagged Western Nigeria Security Network (tagged: Operation Amotekun) is set to begin operation, THISDAY reports that one of its personnel, Soludero Hunters’ Association has said the outfit doesn’t rely on guns to function well but would use their ancestors’ powers to ward off any aggression against Yoruba indigenes in the zone.

A trader, Anthony Okolie, who was arrested by the Department of State Services and detained for 10 weeks, has sued the DSS for ₦500m.

Okolie, in a suit filed before the Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State, by his lawyer, Tope Akinyode, also demanded N500m from Hanan Buhari, the daughter of the President, Major General Muhammadu (retd.), as well as a telecommunications company, MTN.

Kano Anti-Corruption Investigating Three Judges In State

The Kano State Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission has started investigating three Magistrate Judges in the State over alleged corrupt practices.

The investigation was to unravel how the Magistrates allegedly indulged in corrupt practices while carrying out their duties.

One of the Magistrates Judge under investigation is Aminu Usman who was said to have since been removed as a Judge of Magistrate court 34 Rigiyar Zaki, where he allegedly sent so many people to Kano Correctional Center for refusing to compromise.

Gunmen Kidnap District Head In Kano

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the district head of Karshi town, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad (sarkin Yamma) in Rogo local government area of Kano State.

The incident happened on Monday, in Karshi town, at about 3:00 a.m. and whisked away the district head.

The suspected kidnappers are yet to contact any member of the family for ransom for the release of the victim.

Alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans has said he could estimate the financial value of his victims from a short distance.
