DSS Goes On Massive Arrest Of Tanker Drivers For Strike

There was Pandemonium in Kano on Tuesday as the operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS, went berserk against members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers who are closing filling stations in protest.

Already, reports indicate that several members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers have been arrested in Kano for what the DSS termed illegal actions of closing of filling stations.

An Operative of the DSS who doesn’t want his names in print said that they were able to open eight filling stations short down by the PTD member’s.

Escaped Female Kidnapper Rearrested In Kano

The Department of the State Security and the Kano Correctional Center has rearrested Mercy Paul who escaped after been arrested for alleged kidnapping of several Kano Children and sold them in Anambra State.

Mercy Paul was arrested along others for allegedly kidnapping several Kano children and selling them in Anambra State sometimes last year 2019.

However, on 31th January 2020, Mercy Paul was said to have escaped from hospital where she was taken for medication after falling ill at Kano Kurmawa Correctional Centre where she is waiting trail.

Robbery Scare In Ondo As Banks Chase Out Customers

Residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital were on Wednesday thrown into panic following the rumour of an armed robbery attack at one of the old generation banks in the town.

According to the rumour, some robbers had stormed the Oke-Aro branch of First Bank which turned out to be false.

With the news filtering into town, banks located within the state capital chased out customers within the bank halls as they shut their gates.

Ms. Laetitia Naankang Dagan, an Assistant Director at the State House, Abuja was on Monday night assassinated by unidentified persons in her apartment.

The Permanent Secretary, State House, Abuja, Jalal Arabi, disclosed this on Tuesday, saying that the 47-year Dagan from Plateau State, worked in her office on Monday till 8pm, but by 11pm, she was gruesomely murdered in her apartment by unidentified persons.

He described the killing of Dagan, Assistant Director of Administration in the State House, as “a painful loss, not only to her immediate family, but also the entire State House.”

Boko Haram Gunmen Sack Nigerian Village

Hungry gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents attacked Kwarangilim village in Borno State on Tuesday.

The assailants were said to have invaded the village in Chibok Local Government Area of the state, in search of food to loot.

They also set houses ablaze while villagers were forced to escape to nearby bushes as the attack lasted for hours.

Man Who Plotted To Kill President Found Dead

Rwandan gospel singer, Kizito Mihigo, found guilty in 2015 of plotting to kill President Paul Kagame, has been found dead.

A police statement said Mihigo, 38, committed suicide in a cell.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for formation of a criminal gang, conspiracy to murder, and conspiracy against the established government and the president.

Mihigo was granted a presidential pardon by Kagame in 2018 but was was rearrested last week when crossing the border into Burundi.

Authorities explained that this was a breach of the conditions of his pardon.

Six JAMB Staff Kidnapped In Kogi

 

The Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba Road in Kogi State has become the kidnappers and bandits play field, as six staff of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), were abducted by gunmen on Sunday.

A staff of JAMB, who confirmed the abduction, said that the victims, were from the head office in Abuja, and were headed to Kogi West, in preparation for the mock UTME exams.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, however declined to give more details, while all efforts to get confirmation from the Kogi State Police Command proved abortive, as at the time of filing this report.

Amaechi Denies Train Attack In Kaduna

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has denied a news story that he was caught up in a gun attack in Kaduna on Sunday night.

Daily Nigerian reported that the minister and hundreds of train passengers escaped naarrowly Sunday night after suspected kidnappers opened fire on their vehicles as they left the Rigasa station in Kaduna.

Unknown gunmen on Sunday abducted Alhaji Jibrin Giza, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works in Nasarawa State.

9 Drug Addicts Killed In Overnight Shooting

Nine drug addicts have been killed in an overnight shooting in a non-residential area in western side of Kabul, Afghanistan.

Ferdaus Faramarz from Kabul police told Xinhua on Sunday that “The shooting occurred at side of Qurugh Mountain in Police District 6 roughly at 8:00 p.m. Saturday. Personnel of Kabul Criminal Investigation Police Department shifted the bodies to Forensic Science Department near Kabul University shortly after the shooting was reported,”

China Captures 4,112 Fugitives

The National Office Against Organized Crime in China says authorities have captured 4,112 fugitives suspected of gang and organized crimes amid a nationwide crackdown.

According to the office, the 100-day campaign launched last November has targeted 4,713 fugitives involved in organized crime.

Among them, 50 were on the country’s class-A wanted list issued by the Ministry of Public Security.
