Adamawa Attack: Boko Haram Operated For 6 Hours

More revelations have continued to pour in over the unfortunate Boko Haram terrorists attack on the Garkida community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Friday 21 February 2020.

It has been revealed that insurgents carried out the attack with reckless abandon for six hours in the town which is located on the Gombi-Biu – Damaturu Road, sharing proximity with Southern Borno and Sambisa Forest.

SARS Kills Remo Stars Football Club’s Assistant Captain

Men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, have allegedly killed the Assistant Captain of  Remo Stars football Club, Tiyamiyu Kazeem, known as Kaka.

The club, in a statement on its Twitter handle on Saturday said they regret to announce the departure of “our assistant Captain and Defender, Tiyamiyu Kazeem (Kaka).

Pirates Kidnap 9 Personnel Of Oil Vessel Enroute Lagos

The Alpine Penelope crude oil tanker has been attacked by suspected pirates, the  76nw SW Cotonou vessel was enroute Lagos.

Dryad Global, a maritime security risk management, announced this in a statement.

Ten crew of the vessel were kidnapped. Although their names remain unknown, they include Georgian, Filipino and Ukrainian nationals.

The vessel had a total of 24 personnel, comprising of citizens of those countries as at the attack time.

Boko Haram On Rampage In Adamawa Community

Boko Haram insurgents on Friday evening entered Garkida, a town in Gombi, a local government area north of Adamawa State, and went on rampage.

The insurgents were said to have destroyed lives and properties,l.

Sources said the insurgents arrived from somewhere in neighbouring Borno State into Garkida about 7pm, causing residents to scamper for safety, with unspecified number of them being fatally harmed or at least injured.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje told DAILY POST that personnel had been drafted to ascertain the situation.

Mexico Extradites Son Of Drug Kingpin To US

The Mexican Government, on Friday extradited the son of one of the country’s most-wanted drug lords to the U.S., Public Security Minister Alfonso Durazo said.

Ruben Gonzalez, 30, is the son of Nemesio Oseguera, also known as “El Mencho”, who heads the powerful cartel Jalisco New Generation and is accused of large-scale drug trafficking into the U.S.

The United States Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the Village of Walthill in Nebraska for alleged religious discrimination against a church.

In a statement released on Thursday, it stated that Walthill denied Light of the World Gospel Ministries, a nondenominational and multi-ethnic Christian body, a permit to construct a new church building.

The department alleged that in the same period the village approved construction of a library, an education centre and other nonreligious places of gathering in the locality.

Kenya: Killer Cops Are Targeting Slum Youth, Lobby Says

 

Social justice groups based in informal settlements have expressed fears that there’s a killer police officer in nearly every slum in the country.

Speaking during an engagement Forum with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) in Nairobi on Tuesday, Mr Wilfred Olal, the convener of Social Justice Centres Working Group, raised the alarm on the situation, citing Pangani area that hosts Mathare slums as an example.

EFCC Arraigns Sterling Bank Staff For Stealing ₦2.7m

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office, Wednesday arraigned an ex-banker, Akinwole Oluwaseun Dosunmu, alongside his wife, Motunrayo Olanike Dosunmu for allegedly stealing ₦2.7m from Sterling bank PLC.

The duo were brought before Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan.

EFFC acting spokesman, Tony Orilade who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja further explained that the couple was accused of stealing the said sum from Sterling Bank Plc.

Akinwole reportedly was an employee of the bank, while his wife was a customer and a beneficiary in the bank’s Third Party Acquirer Scheme.
