Gumi Meets Bandits, Says Abductees Will Be Released Soon

Kaduna based popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmed Gumi, has said that the students of Government Science College, Kagara and others abducted in Niger State would soon be released.

The cleric gave the assurance after meeting with the bandits in the forests between Tegina in Niger State and Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State.

A source quoted by the report, who was privy to the meeting, said Sheikh Gumi had a meeting with the leader of the bandits and other top commanders at the Dutsen Magaji forest.

Unknown Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have allegedly murdered seven people in Edo State.

According to reports, it was gathered that those killed include some farmers at Ugboke, Oshodi, Okokodo, Ariyan, and Yoruba Camp in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state.

An indigene of the area, Mrs. Janet Ighodaro, alleged that gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, stormed the Yoruba camp as a base to launch an attack into various communities in the state.

‘If you kill a herder, don’t go and sleep, we will revisit you,’ Those were the words of the National Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhassan Saleh while stating that hurting any herdsman is a debt that must be paid back in due course.

Ondo State Security Network known as Amotekun Corps has arrested Two herdsmen for using their cows to destroy crops at Irese, Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.

Also, 200 cows that destroyed the crops were arrested and taken to the headquarters of the Amotekun Corps in Akure.

The two herders – Muhammed Abu and Musa Saliu-  said they came into Ondo from Ilorin,  Kwara State.

The Edo State Government has revealed that it has concluded plans to comb the forests in the state for killer herdsmen and rid the state of criminality.
