Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Nigeria Army, on Wednesday, foiled what would have been another disaster in Nigeria as they blocked an attempted jailbreak at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ubiaja, Edo State.

It was gathered that the attempted jailbreak started as unrest by the inmates who rebuffed moves them to their cells after it was opened out as it is the routine practice in the correctional center.

Some ‘Unknown Gunmen’ in the early hours of Monday attacked the Nigeria Correctional Service, Owerri, the Imo State capital and the state police command headquarters.

According to reports, the gunmen also killed two persons and burnt operational vehicles of the Nigerian Army when they attacked a military base at Umuorji on the Owerri- Onitsha expressway.

According to a statement from the headquarters of the NCoS said 1,844 inmates fled the facility in Owerri during the attack.

A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr Fabian Ngugban of Aye Twar parish, Agu Centre near Sai, Katsina-Ala LGA has been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen.

A source who resides in the area, Gbande U Logo told Africa Daily News, New York that the incident occurred at about 10 am on Tuesday morning.

A senior Pastor of the Church who confirmed the contact and the amount, explained that the eight members were kidnapped from the church bus at about 6:00 p.m while on their way for a church assignment.

Last week, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) sounded the alarm of her health.

Kari Ann was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) on February 8, 2021, following the death of her host in Nigeria.
