ISWAP Insurgents Set Military Base On Fire In Borno

Terrorists suspected to be members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) yesterday overran a military formation in the southern part of Borno State yesterday carting away weapons after a fierce gun battle with the troops.

This is coming less than 24 hours to Presiden Muhammdu Buhari’s visit to the State.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the fighters rode on about 10 utility vehicles to storm the military formation at Kwamdi village, Damboa local government area, on Tuesday evening.

They were said to have burnt down one Ammour Personal Carrier(APC) and a gun truck.

Panic As Gunmen Attack Zaria Again, Abduct Residents

Bandits have again attacked Kofar Gayan and Kofar Kona areas of Zaria and abducted some residents.

The attack was carried out last weekend by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State  Command, who confirmed the incident, said he was trying to gather details about the attack.

However, an official of Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KadVS), said the incident occurred between  12.01 and 1.00 am on Saturday.

Abductors who were behind the kidnap at least 156 pupils of the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School in Tegina town of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have increased the ransom for the release of the abducted pupils to ₦200 million.

This is coming just as the parents had raised ₦11 million out of the initial ₦110 million demanded.

Katsina State Government has accused some security agents of aiding bandits in perpetuating banditry and other criminal activities in the State.

The Deputy Controller of the Oko Medium Security Custodial Centre, Benin, Edo, Mr. Amayo Osadiaye, has revealed that only two mentally deranged inmates on death row returned after the EndSARS jailbreak which occurred last year.

Jihadists Kill 12 Soldiers In Chad In Fresh Attack

Clashes between the army and jihadists in the Lake Chad region on Tuesday left at least 12 Chadians dead.

Mahamat Fadoul Mackaye, a provisional head in the army said 40 Islamist fighters were also killed following the attack on an army position in the marshy region used as a rear base by jihadist groups including Nigeria-based Boko Haram and a dissident branch, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

‘The defence forces responded vigorously to chase away the enemy, which left 40 bodies and weapons, but we mourn the loss of 12 soldiers,’ Mackaye told newsmen by telephone.
