40-Yr Old Woman Bags 12 Years For Defrauding Church

Sade Otenuga, a 40-year-old woman met her waterloo when she was sentenced 12 years imprisonment by an Ekiti High Court on Monday for defrauding a Deeper Life Bible Church centre of ₦620,000.

The court heard that Sade deceived the church into paying her the money on the pretext that she owned a dilapidated structure in Ado-Ekiti and that the church could buy and convert the land to better use.

₦80bn Fraud: EFCC Nabs Nigeria’s Accountant General, Idris

The Nigerian Social media sphere was ablaze with reactions as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained Nigeria’s Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris for an alleged ₦80,000,000,000 (eighty billion naira) fraud that involves the loss of some funds that were unaccounted for.

EFCC Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren announced this in a statement on Monday.

The spokesman said EFCC operatives took Idris into custody for alleged massive fraud. The top official is accused of diversion of funds and money laundering to the tune of ₦80billion.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has issued a warning to Nigerians that there are possible spillover cyberattacks against non-primary targets following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

This warning came from the Head, Corporate Affairs and External Relations of NITDA, Mrs Hadiza Umar via a statement issued on Monday in Abuja. She stated that the invasion had increased cyberattacks on businesses and government organisations.

‘There is a greater danger for countries doing business in or with these countries’ governments, as well as businesses or countries that apply sanctions or are believed to intervene’ she stated.

Operatives of Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested a man, identified simply as Fatoba, along Efon–Ado Road for illegal possession of a gun and impersonating the country’s secret police.
