$8.4m fraud: Fred Ajudua cross-examines Bamaiyi

Bamaiyi said he can’t remember how much he earned in the army while being cross-examined by Fred Ajudua, who is also the defendant in the matter. Ajudua is standing trial before the court for allegedly defrauding Bamaiyi of $8.4m while they were both inmates of the Kirikiri prison in Lagos.

Ajudua allegedly conned Bamaiyi of the said sum, after he told him that it represented legal fees for Afe Babalola, SAN, who would help him bribe the trial judge, Justice Joseph Oyewole.

Kaduna killings: Police disagree with El-Rufai on figures

48 hours after Governor Nasir El-Rufai put the figure at 130, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdulrahman has said that the casualty figures of Kajuru killings is yet to be ascertained.

The police commissioner while briefing newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday, however, warned that, nobody should stampede investigations on the killings, adding that, “even if the governor tells you it is 200 bodies, he is just quoting figures, because it may be more than that or less than that.”

Court detains father for raping his 2 daughters

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan on Thursday remanded a father, Phillip Iyiola, 43, who allegedly raped his two daughters.

Iyiola has been remanded pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Gunmen kill Imo APC ward chairman after meeting

Three armed gunmen Tuesday night, stormed the residence of the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 11 Logara / Umuohiagu, Ngor Opkala Local Council, Ifeanyi Ozoemena, 49, killing him.

The deceased, sources closed to him, disclosed that the hoodlums swooped on the victim shortly he ended a meeting of the party members which he presided over in his capacity as the chairman of the ward. SAN challenges AGF to prove bribery allegation against CJN

Community’s local authority condemns attack on gas pipeline

The leadership of Batan community in Warri South-West council area of Delta state have condemned the recent attack on the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) gas line in the community.
In a statement signed by the councillor representing the Batan ward in the Warri South-West legislative house, Mr Frank Pukon, the community also appealed to security agencies for restraint in the process of finding the culprits, assuring the community stakeholders were willing to assist in arresting perpetrators.

Fulani herdsmen kill 17 persons in Benue

Suspected Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of Wednesday attacked Ebete, Usha ward in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State and killed no fewer than 17 persons.

The unprovoked attack on Agatu people started at around I am when people were asleep.

CJN Onnoghen pleads not guilty to charges, gets bail

ABUJA—The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, on Friday,  pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge the Federal Government levelled against him.

Onnoghen, who mounted the dock at exactly 10:15am, equally persuaded the Mr.  Danladi Umar led tribunal, to vacate the arrest warrant that was issued against him on Wednesday.

FG had in the charge marked CCT/01/2019, alleged that Onnoghen who was suspended from office on January 25 by President Muhammadu Buhari, failed to declare his assets as prescribed by the law.
