Police arrest FRSC boss for allegedly killing colleague

Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Onitsha, Anambra State, Paulinus Akpotobo, and another senior officer have been arrested by the Onitsha Police Area Command for allegedly strangling a colleague, Emeka Ojei, to death.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening.Sources close to FRSC said trouble started when the deceased threatened to write a petition of corrupt practice against one of the officers to FRSC zonal headquarters in Benin City, Edo State, an action that did not go down well with the affected officer.

The police in Lagos said it arrested three suspected traffic robbers in two separate operations around Ayobo/Ipaja areas of the state, less than 24 hours to Sallah holidays.

More than $267 million traced to the family of late Nigerian despot General Sani Abacha has been seized from a British Virgin Islands bank and paid into government coffers in an American state of Jersey.

An Abuja- based pastor has been arrested for alleged involvement in employment scam.

The Pastor of Spirit Embassy church located in Gwagwalada area of Abuja, who was working with one Alhaji, claimed they had connection and could get interested job seekers employment into the Nigeria Immigration Service.

25-year-old Egbunu Vincent Onuche said he collected between N150, 000 to N300, 000 from 16 people who indicated interest in the employment.

The interested people, according to him, were church members, friends and family members.

Breaking: Court grants Naira Marley ₦2m bail

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday granted a musician, Azeez Fashola (a.k.a Naira Marley), bail for N2millon with two sureties in like sum.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo ruled that one of the sureties must be on Grade Level 10 in the Federal or state employment.

The other surety must have a landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.

The judge directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to verify the bail terms.

Court remands painter for raping 17-year-old girl

A Magistrates’ Court in Minna on Thursday ordered that a painter, Zubairu Apaila, be remanded in prison, for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.

The police charged Apaila, 23, with three counts unlawful sexual intercourse with a child; exposure of a child to narcotics, and prohibition of a child from attending and remaining in school.

Magistrate Mariam Kings, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison, due to the gravity of the offence.

Kings adjourned the case until June 11, for further mention.
