Union Bank of Nigeria (UBN) Plc has entered a share sale and purchase agreement to divest its 100 per cent equity stake in its United Kingdom (UK) subsidiary, Union Bank UK (UBUK) Plc.

Revenue Generation: Nigerian Govt Shifts From Oil

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has said as part of plans to boost Nigeria’s revenue generation, the federal government has commenced further development of mining and solid minerals sector.

Mr Elias Mbam, Chairman of the commission, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said this would ensure less dependence on oil.

Mr Abhay Thakur, the High Commissioner of India to Nigeria, said the trade volume between India and Nigeria increased to 13.9 billion US.dollars in 2018-2019.

Thakur said this at the 70th anniversary of India’s Republic and 60th year of formal diplomatic relations between India and Nigeria on Friday in Abuja.

The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has urged insurers to take advantage of the recapitalisation extension recently announced by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to prepare well for the exercise.

Profit taking by some investors moderated the growth of the Nigerian stock market last week as the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.69 per cent to close at 29,618.52.

7.5% VAT: Buhari Govt Lists Exempted Goods, Services

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has revealed goods and services exempted from the Value Added Tax, VAT increase.

According to the details sent to NAN on Sunday from the office of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, several basic food items, locally manufactured sanitary towels, pads and tuition relating to nursery, primary, secondary and tertiary education have been added to the exemption list of goods and services on the VAT.

It said that this is in a bid to ensure that the cost of living does not rise for Nigerians because of the changes in the VAT.
