Biden To Push $6 Trillion US Budget For Next Fiscal Year

US President, Joe Biden yesterday proposed a $6 trillion budget to ‘reimagine’ the US economy and stave off Chinese competition and set the US economy on the path of full recovery.

Many experts however have pointed out that the proposal would be driving the United States into record debt although it is subject to congressional approval.

Announcing the proposed spending, Biden said the post-pandemic United States ‘cannot afford to simply return to the way things were before.

‘We must seize the moment to reimagine and rebuild a new American economy,’ he said.

Most Cryptocurrency Transactions Are Illegitimate – Emefiele

The Governor of the Central bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has said that most transactions conducted in cryptocurrencies are illegitimate.

Emefiele was asked if he had a sense of consolation about the plunge in Bitcoin, and he responded by saying that the CBN has conducted research to show that most cryptocurrency transactions are illegitimate.

The CBN governor further revealed that under the Bitcoin cryptocurrency transactions, Nigeria comes 2nd but in the global size of the economy, Nigeria comes 27th.

Nigerian Naira Plunges To ₦485/$ In Parallel Market

The Nigerian currency – Naira weakened against the United States dollar yesterday at both the parallel market and the investors’ and exporters’ window.

The naira fell to ₦485 against the greenback at the black market from ₦484 on Thursday.

It weakened by 0.17 percent to 412/$1 at the I&E window, according to FMDQ Group.

Last weekend, the Central Bank of Nigeria removed its official exchange rate of N379/$1 from the home page of its website.

The CBN had in August last year devalued the naira to 379/$1 from 360/$1.
