Ukraine’s peace negotiating team arrived in the United States on Saturday for talks aimed at finalising details of a proposed agreement to end the war with Russia, according to a senior official in Kyiv.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s office, said the delegation would hold meetings with White House envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll.
“Ukraine needs a just peace. We are working to achieve results,” Budanov wrote on the Telegram app.
President Donald Trump has intensified efforts to press both Kyiv and Moscow toward a settlement, but after months of diplomacy no major breakthrough has been reached. Heavy fighting continues along a front line stretching more than one thousand two hundred kilometres.
Ukraine and the United States have drawn up a twenty point peace proposal, though Russia has not yet publicly responded to the plan.
Diplomats say the most sensitive issues remain territorial concessions, long term security guarantees, and control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, which is currently occupied by Russian forces.

Ukrainian officials said talks in Washington would also focus on security guarantees for the post war period, as well as a large scale recovery package to rebuild the country once fighting ends.
President Zelenskiy said he hopes to sign documents outlining what he called a prosperity package with the United States on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos next week.
The agreement is expected to unlock roughly eight hundred billion dollars in reconstruction investment for Ukraine, aimed at restoring infrastructure, housing, and key industries damaged during the war.
As negotiations continue, Ukrainian leaders have stressed that any settlement must protect the country’s sovereignty while providing lasting security against future aggression.
