Nigeria Declares Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year Holidays

Nigeria’s Federal Government has declared December 25 and 26, 2025, as well as January 1, 2026, public holidays to mark the Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations.

The announcement was made on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.

Dr Tunji Ojo extended goodwill messages to Christians in Nigeria and across the world, while also congratulating all Nigerians as the year draws to a close and a new one begins.
