Israel begins a new training program aimed to equip industry consultants with AI skills to boost productivity and modernize its traditional manufacturing sector.

Israel has partnered with Google to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI), tools into its traditional manufacturing sector, launching a new national program designed to help factories modernize operations and improve productivity.

The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Economy and Industry in collaboration with Google Israel, marks one of the country’s most significant pushes to accelerate AI adoption beyond the high-tech sector. Officials say the program is aimed at bridging a persistent knowledge gap that has left many factories unaware of how emerging technologies can transform their operations.

Developed with Reichman University’s High-Tech and AI School and the Ministry’s Center for Advanced Industry, the program will train industry consultants who work directly with factories across the country. These consultants will learn how to guide manufacturers in integrating AI into key areas such as production processes, logistics, supply-chain management, IT systems and customer service.

More than 30 participants entered the first training cohort this week. They received an introduction to core AI concepts along with hands-on instruction in tools tailored specifically for industrial environments. Organizers say the training will expand in future rounds as demand increases from factories seeking support in adopting digital systems.

Israel’s manufacturing sector, while an essential part of the economy, has lagged behind the nation’s globally recognized tech industry in digital transformation. Government officials have warned that without rapid adoption of new technologies, traditional industries risk falling behind international competitors. They view AI as a critical tool for reducing production costs, improving quality control and enhancing efficiency.

Google Israel executives involved in the program say the partnership reflects the company’s goal of broadening technology access for businesses of all sizes. By working with government and academic institutions, they aim to ensure that AI education reaches sectors that typically lack the resources to implement advanced tools on their own.

The Ministry of Economy and Industry noted that the collaboration fits within its broader effort to upgrade the capabilities of Israel’s industrial workforce. Officials believe trained consultants will play a crucial role in helping factories identify practical applications of AI, rather than viewing the technology as abstract or inaccessible.

As Israel positions itself as a leader in artificial intelligence, the government views the manufacturing sector as a priority for modernization. The new program is expected to expand in the coming months, with additional training cycles and more industry-specific modules planned.

The initiative is part of Israel’s continuing strategy to ensure that digital innovation reaches every corner of its economy.
