Chelsea and England forward Raheem Sterling and his family are safe after burglars attempted to break into their home in Berkshire over the weekend. The incident, confirmed by police reports and multiple credible news outlets, occurred while Sterling was at home with his partner and children.
According to Thames Valley Police, officers were called to Sterling’s residence after a group of intruders broke into the property. The suspects left the scene before police arrived, and it was later confirmed that nothing was stolen from the house. Fortunately, no one was harmed in the incident.
This marks the second time in recent years that Sterling’s home has been targeted by burglars. A similar event took place in December 2022 while he was away with the England national team at the Qatar World Cup, prompting him to fly back home to ensure his family’s safety.
Reports from The Guardian and BBC Sport indicate that the 2025 break-in happened on Saturday evening, around the time of Chelsea’s Premier League fixture against Wolves. It is understood that Sterling was at home during the incident, though police have not provided further details about the confrontation or how the suspects entered.
A spokesperson for Sterling confirmed that his family is “shaken but safe,” and thanked the police for their quick response. Chelsea Football Club also issued a brief statement expressing support for their player and his loved ones, emphasizing that the club’s welfare team is providing assistance.

The incident has reignited discussions about the increasing number of burglary attempts targeting high-profile footballers in the United Kingdom. Over the past few years, several Premier League players — including Paul Pogba, Joao Cancelo, and Dele Alli — have experienced similar home invasions, often while their families were present.
While the investigation into the Sterling case remains ongoing, police have encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. For now, the priority remains the safety and well-being of Sterling and his family, who have once again found themselves victims of a terrifying but thankfully non-violentintrusion.
