Manchester City is mourning the tragic death of lifelong supporter Guy Bradshaw, who died in Spain just hours before the club’s Champions League fixture against Villarreal. The club confirmed the news on social media, expressing its condolences to his family, and described the supporter as “Once a Blue, Always a Blue.”

Bradshaw, aged 35, had travelled with friends to Benidorm in the build-up to the tie and was found unresponsive in his apartment the morning of the match. Spanish authorities and Manchester City staff are assisting the family, with the club helping coordinate the repatriation of his body. His cousin Jess Bradshaw said the family had been informed there were “no suspicious circumstances.”

The club statement read: “Everyone at the Club sends their condolences to his family, friends and fellow fans during this difficult time.” Bradshaw had been described by friends as a passionate supporter of Manchester City, travelling regularly to follow the team both home and abroad.

The sudden nature of his passing has shocked the fan community and club alike. A fundraising page has been launched to support the family with the unexpected costs of repatriation, reportedly reaching over half of its target in just hours after the news emerged.

With the Champions League fixture in hand and thoughts now firmly with their travelling fans, Manchester City will go into the match and subsequent fixtures with a heavy heart. The club’s acknowledgement and tangible support for Bradshaw’s family underline how deeply these losses impact the wider football family—not just the players and staff, but fans who commit their lives to following their club.
