The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced new leadership appointments in its communications and relations divisions, naming Andy Odeh as Chief Corporate Communications Officer and Morenike Adewunmi as Chief Relations Officer.
Odeh’s appointment follows the resignation of Femi Soneye as the company’s spokesperson two months ago. In a statement on Tuesday, NNPCL described Odeh as a seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience in communications and business administration across the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting industries.
Before joining NNPCL, Odeh had a 26-year career at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he served in several leadership capacities. These included roles in Community Relations and Development, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Government Relations, Regulatory Compliance, and most recently, General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development.

During his tenure at NLNG, Odeh spearheaded rebranding campaigns and managed one of Nigeria’s most successful micro-credit schemes for host communities. He was also instrumental in establishing the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, a flagship initiative to promote excellence in journalism. Odeh holds academic and executive credentials from the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Alongside Odeh, NNPCL has appointed Morenike Adewunmi as Chief Relations Officer. Adewunmi, a legal professional, brings more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in stakeholder engagement and advocacy. She previously held senior positions at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN), where she built a reputation for managing complex external relations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and safeguarding corporate licenses to operate.
The oil company emphasized that both appointments align with its commitment to strengthening communication, deepening stakeholder trust, and maintaining strong regulatory and community relations. With Odeh and Adewunmi in place, NNPCL aims to enhance its corporate image and reinforce its position as a trusted player in Nigeria’s energy sector.
