After Arsenal’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, former United captain turned pundit Gary Neville reaffirmed his belief in the Gunners. Despite the setback, he remains steadfast in his pre-season prediction that they will win the Premier League.
“I’ve tipped them for the Premier League title, and I’m not going to change that after today,” Neville insisted on his Sky Sports podcast. “I’m not.”
He emphasized the belief he places in individual Arsenal players rising to the occasion: “‘Go on, Declan Rice, you can be that player that runs through,’ or ‘Martin Ødegaard, you can be the player that scores in this game.’”

Neville also acknowledged the positives from the match. He praised Noni Madueke’s performance, noting, “Noni Madueke, I thought he had a good game today.” He added that Eberechi Eze looked sharp when introduced late, reinforcing his point that the talent is present: “So there is the talent there to think they can go and do it.”
While critics questioned Arsenal’s decisiveness and creativity at Anfield—some calling their play cautious or robotic—Neville sees mitigating factors like injuries to key names such as Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz. More importantly, he believes that with collective belief and standout performances in big games, the title is within reach.
Neville’s comments reflect a broader narrative surrounding Arsenal’s season: they have the quality and depth on paper, but must now translate that into results—especially against elite opponents.
His confidence puts added pressure on Arsenal to live up to expectations. If they can blend belief with performance, Neville’s “tipped-for-title” forecast may yet prove prescient.
