AC Milan have officially submitted a permanent-transfer offer to Liverpool for defender Joe Gomez, sources confirm. However, the move is contingent on Liverpool finalizing their signing of Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guéhi.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool’s stance is clear: Gomez will only be permitted to leave if Guéhi arrives at Anfield. The Reds are actively pursuing Guéhi, who could reinforce a defense in need of stability after Jarell Quansah’s departure.

AC Milan’s interest marks a late-window push for Gomez, who has long been admired for his versatility across the backline but has also struggled with fitness—missing over 270 games during his Liverpool career. Milan view him as a valuable defensive addition, and their offer reportedly lies in the £8 million to £11 million range.

Parallel to this, Liverpool have submitted a £35 million bid for Marc Guéhi, including a 10% sell-on clause, with Palace demanding up to £40 million inclusive of bonus payments. Palace manager Oliver Glasner has insisted it may be too late in the window to find a capable replacement but chairman Steve Parish has acknowledged that they may have to sell to avoid losing Guéhi on a free transfer next summer.

In summary: Liverpool are negotiating two interdependent deals. Guéhi’s arrival could unlock Gomez’s departure to AC Milan, while both moves are crucial components of the club’s ongoing defensive rebuild under manager Arne Slot. With just days left in the transfer window, time is running out to conclude both transfers.
