As the summer transfer window reaches its final days, Chelsea are reportedly preparing for a potential departure of striker Nicolas Jackson by lining up a new forward to bolster their attacking ranks.

Multiple sources, including Sports Illustrated, confirm that Chelsea “are reportedly mulling over a late bid for a new striker” amid growing uncertainty over Jackson’s future . David Ornstein has identified Conrad Harder of Sporting Lisbon as a leading target in case Jackson departs. Harder, 20, offers youthful promise and would provide valuable depth.

The situation has been further complicated by a failed loan move for Jackson to Bayern Munich. Chelsea initially agreed to the move, but pulled the plug after forward Liam Delap suffered a thigh injury, leaving the club short on attacking options. With Delap sidelined for 6–8 weeks, the need for cover became critical, prompting Chelsea’s renewed interest in signing an additional striker.

Reports also suggest Chelsea may consider reviving a permanent transfer for Jackson—but only if a suitable replacement is secured first. The club’s forward depth remains extremely thin, with only Joao Pedro and Delap as available senior strikers.

Conrad Harder fits the bill as a youth talent with proven goal-scoring record at Sporting. Chelsea have made contact and are exploring a late-window move for him, though the deal’s feasibility remains uncertain given transfer costs and time constraints.

With just days left before the window closes, Chelsea’s strategy is clear: should Jackson leave, they must have a replacement in place. The potential signing of Harder is being treated as a contingency to maintain attacking stability under manager Enzo Maresca.
