Paris Saint-Germain Féminines have officially announced the signing of Nigerian star Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade, the standout captain of the Super Falcons and Player of the Tournament at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Ajibade has committed to PSG on a contract that runs through June 30, 2027, arriving as a free agent following the conclusion of her stint with Atlético Madrid.
Ajibade, 25, arrives at the French capital at the peak of her powers. She led Nigeria to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title, earning Player of the Tournament honors for her creativity, leadership, and resilience on the field. Her performance in Casablanca reinforced her reputation as one of Africa’s most influential footballers.
Her career in Europe has been on a steady rise. After starting in Nigeria with FC Robo, Ajibade honed her skills at Avaldsnes IL in Norway before joining Atlético Madrid in 2021. In her final season with Madrid, she made 25 appearances, contributed eight goals, and delivered three assists—helping solidify her status as a dependable offensive force in Spain.

For PSG, the acquisition is more than just a transfer—it’s a statement of intent. The club, which hopes to reclaim the Division 1 Féminine title from Lyon and make deeper inroads in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, gains a versatile attacker capable of playing centrally or on the wings. Ajibade also joins compatriot Jennifer Echegini in a growing contingent of Nigerian talent at the club.
Ajibade herself reflected on the move with pride: “I am deeply honored to be joining PSG, a top-drawer club in Europe. This is a major step for me. I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and to inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere.”
In sum, this signing brings together Ajibade’s international flair with PSG’s ambition—promising exciting chapters ahead in both French and European women’s football.
