Steven Gerrard Named Al-Ettifaq’s Manager

Steven Gerrard, the legendary English and Liverpool footballer, has been named as the new manager of Saudi Arabian team Al-Ettifaq. It’s worth noting that in June, the 43-year-old mentioned being invited to the country to consider a potential offer, but he had explicitly stated that he would not be taking it up.

Gerrard’s last managerial role was with Aston Villa, but he was sacked in October last year and has been without a job since then.

Al-Ettifaq’s performance last season in the 16-team Saudi Pro League saw them finish in seventh position, with a considerable 35-point gap separating them …

Britain, And Her Joy In Profiting From Stolen Artifacts

Britain, And Her Joy In Profiting From Stolen Artifacts

A century after serving as the principal slaving country of the modern world, it appears Britain has yet to find any remorse. She has chosen the cowardly path of aloofness and has continued to act without honour. Lots of fundamental questions have been asked, but none of them have been answered. It is high time Britain came to answer the following questions; Why has Britain not offered any apology for African slavery, as it had done for the Irish potato famine? Till date, why is it that there is no substantial public monument of national contrition equivalent to Berlin’s Holocaust

2023 Imo Guber: Why Governor Uzodinma Must Be Sacked

It is barely four months before Imolites head to the polls again to have a say on their political destiny. The last time they spoke in resounding terms, their choices were invalidated by judicial buccaneers in Abuja who imposed an unpopular Governor on them, but nevertheless, Imolites must fight again, this time, their mission will ultimately be to eject the beneficiary of that injustice from Douglas House.

In any democratic country around the world where democracy is practiced in the real sense of it, the power to effect change in leadership lies within the hands of the people and not …

Dear Africans, Westernisation Is Not Civilisation!

Dear Africans, Westernisation Is Not Civilisation!

It is utterly sad and depressing that many people today have come to accept the idea that the only metric for measuring modernity in today’s world is through a Western lens. This idea has erroneously enforced the narrative that westernisation is synonymous with civilisation.

What many of the people who have held this view do not know or perhaps mischievously prefer to ignore is that the African continent, with its rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and historical narratives, has been a thriving cradle of civilisation long before the advent of Western influence. Long before the interruption by Europeans, Africans were …

Tinubu, APC And The Politics Of Hardship Against Nigerians

Tinubu, APC And The Politics Of Hardship Against Nigerians

As the sun sets on another day in Nigeria, it casts long shadows over the masses, shrouding them in the chilling gloom of hardship. The man on the street, the woman at the market, the artisan in the workshop, and the child in the classroom, all bear the brunt of a political system that seems far removed from their plight. While they continue to hope for the best, the worst keeps locating them, and their soreness keeps festering.

Coming off an eight-year tenure marshalled by the grossly ineffective Muhammadu Buhari as President left Nigerians wondering if there could be …

Recuperate Before Returning To Duty, Ibrahim To Akeredolu

In light of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu‘s ailing health, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing the Ondo South Senatorial District, has recommended that he focus on recuperating rather than rushing back to his gubernatorial responsibilities.

During a telephone conversation over the weekend, Mr. Ibrahim explicitly advised Mr. Akeredolu to draw inspiration from the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, who spent several months abroad attending to his health and only returned to duty once he had made a full recovery.

‘Arakunrin (Akeredolu), there is a precedent in this regard. President Muhammadu Buhari was away for six months while on medical leave and later returned …
