Messi Sets New Champions League Record As Benfica Holds PSG

Paris Saint-German playmaker, Lionel Messi yesterday set yet another record in the UEFA Champions League even as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Benfica.

Messi opened the scoring in the first half with a trademark curling left-foot finish from the edge of the box.

The goal meant the 35-year-old became the first player in Champions League history to score goals against 40 different opponents.

The lead did not last as the hosts wlevelled four minutes before the break, when an inviting in-swinging cross from Enzo Fernandez touched off PSG defender Danilo and into the net.

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has taken a swipe at his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, for celebrating the honorary citizenship conferred on him in the United States.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its commitment and readiness to rid the forthcoming 2023 general election of vote-buying through its existing partnership with the security and anti-graft agencies in the country.
