Iran Security Forces ‘Gun Down’ Mahsa Amini’s Mourners

Fresh reports reaching the desk of Africa Daily News, New York has revealed that some of the Iranian security forces have reportedly opened fire on some of the protesters who massed in their thousands on Wednesday in Mahsa Amini’s hometown to mark the 40 days since her death.

Amini, who had been a 22-year-old Iranian of Kurdish origin, died on September 16, three days after her arrest in Tehran by some of the the notorious morality police for allegedly breaching the Islamic dress code for women.

A northern group under the agesis of the Concerned Northern Forum have on Thursday, in Kaduna State, frowned at the recent directive which had been made by the Central Bank Governor, to redesign some of the naira notes effective from December 15, 2022.

In a fresh directive, the Federal Government of Nigeria has on Wednesday made an approval of a fresh contract to the indigenous motor company, Innoson, to supply up to 21 vehicles to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

India Fines Google $113M Over ‘Unfair’ Payment System

India’s antitrust watchdog has fined Google $113 million for ‘unfair’ payment policies, a week after hitting the tech behemoth with an even bigger financial penalty for abusing its market dominance.

The company’s Android mobile operating system which is based in California is by far the dominant player in India and runs on 95 percent of all the country’s smartphones, according to research agency Counterpoint.

Independent developers distribute their own software on Android through the company’s app store, Google Play, but must use Google’s billing system to collect revenue from consumers.

In some fresh moves, some of the top New York City health leaders have voted on Tuesday to fully rescind the strictest-in-nation COVID vaccine mandate which had been implemented by former New York Mayor, Bill de Blasio in some of the waning days of his administration which has been described as the last signoff which is needed to end the program next week.
