In lieu of their recently announced strike action, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has finally called off its nationwide strike action just a day after they had downed their tools and thrown the country into a blackout.

The decision had also come on the heels of an emergency meeting which had been held by the union with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige on Wednesday.

NiMet Predicts Flooding In 6 Nigerian States, Warns Residents

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), on Tuesday, predicted that no fewer than six states would experience flooding in a matter of few weeks’ time.

In the aftermath of this, the agency has gone on to warn that those residing close to flood-prone areas to evacuate before this most dangerous time.

In a statement on Tuesday, Director General of NiMet, Prof. Mansur Matazu mentioned the six states as; Borno, Kebbi, Sokoto, Bayelsa and Delta States.

NiMet Director General further said its soil moisture analysis and the weather patterns showed that some parts of these states are flood high-risk areas.

The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies and the National Union of Electricity Employees suspended the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s nationwide operations on Tuesday, culminating in a 502.7 megawatt reduction in Nigeria’s power production.

Ukraine’s Nuclear Operator Reports Cyberattack On Its Website

Ukraine’s nuclear operator Energoatom has raised alarm over what it called an ‘unprecedented’ cyberattack on its website however insisting that its operations had not been tampered with.

‘On August 16, 2022, the most powerful cyberattack since the start of the Russian invasion occurred against Energoatom’s website,’ the operator said in Telegram message that was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York.

It ‘was attacked from Russian territory’.
