Ukraine Independence Day: Pope Makes Passionate Appeal For Peace

The Catholic leader, Pope Francis had also renewed some of his calls for peace “for the beloved Ukrainian people” on the warring country’s Independence Day and alsp their six-month anniversary of the start of Russia’s invasion to pin them down.

Following his weekly general audience at the Vatican, Pope Francis had also directed his address to “the beloved Ukrainian people who for six months today have been suffering the horror of war,” while warning of the risk of nuclear catastrophe in the region.

The United States President, Joe Biden in his continued support for the Ukrainin side in their conflict against Russia has made another announcement of nearly $3 billion which would be coming in military aid to Kyiv on Wednesday.

Senior authorities of the Nigerian police force have once again asserted that its personnel have no right to check people’s phones arbitrarily without a warrant on the road.

The unemployment rate in South Africa fell for a second consecutive quarter based notwithstanding the widespread power cuts and devastating floods, StatsSA confirmed on Wednesday.

Africa Today News, New York reports that between April and June, the jobless rate declined by 0.6 of a percentage point over the first quarter to 33.9 percent of the workforce, the official data agency disclosed.
